Prometric SEE Testing Begins June 1, 2020

As of June 1, all programs in the U.S. and Canada are able to resume Prometric SEE testing, where permitted by regional regulations. Please note that some sites are only available for essential programs, as designated by our essential client list. Please refer to the “Program Availability” column to determine which sites are available to your program. 

Also note the indication below on which sites globally are operating at full occupancy, and which ones continue to operate at limited occupancy, based on local, state and federal guidelines.

EA Exam Delayed to May 31, 2020 due to CoronaVirus

The EA Exam has been DELAYED to May 31, 2020 and the exam carryover of scores has been extended to THREE years. Due to the COVID-19 global pandemic, Prometric’s test centers in the United States and Canada are closed through May 31, 2020.

If you have a SEE appointment scheduled in May, you should have received an email informing you that your appointment is canceled. A Prometric representative will try to contact you once by telephone to reschedule your appointment. If Prometric can’t reach you by telephone, they will reschedule your appointment and send you an email confirmation with your new appointment information.

If the new appointment date and time does not work for you, and to ensure rescheduling fees are waived, please call Prometric at: 800-306-3926 (toll-free) or +1 443-751-4193 (toll) Monday -Friday from 8:00 a.m.- 9:00 p.m. (ET). Additionally, the June 15-29, 2020 international testing window has been cancelled. International candidates are able to schedule in the three remaining windows in August and November 2020 and February 2021.

COVID Legislation and the EA Exam

Congress passed three COVID-related bills in March 2020. These bills included dozens of retroactive tax law changes that will affect the 2018 and 2019 tax year (retroactively) as well as the 2020 tax year going forward. We can confirm that Prometric and the IRS will NOT be testing on any retroactive tax law changes during the May 1, 2020 - February 28, 2021 testing cycle.

HOW to CANCEL a Scheduled IRS Payment

With everyone being more careful about their spending, here is a simple guide for how to CANCEL a scheduled IRS payment. Feel free to share! And please be safe!

How to CANCEL an already-scheduled IRS payment:

(1) Direct pay: Cancel a scheduled payment by using the confirmation number, use the "Lookup Payment" feature. Cancel at least 2 days before the payment withdrawal date. (

2) EFTPS: "Click on payments" Login and click "cancel a tax payment" and follow the instructions. Must cancel at least 2 days before the withdrawal date.

(3) Direct Debit: You must contact the U.S. Treasury Financial agent directly at: 888-353-4537. You must call at least 2 days prior to the payment date.

(4) Credit card payment: a credit card payment must be canceled through the card payment processor.
